We've also been dividing our chive bed each year, as well as cutting it back to encourage a second flowering during the summer. It's just that Didi is fascinated with collecting seed at the moment. Yesterday, she was collecting all the marigold seeds from our companion planted vegetable bed. I guess they'll be a post about this too in the coming weeks.

Chives are such lovely things. We have long rows of it, but never let it seed. We cut it down about 3 times from spring to summer to keep them fresh and useable. We therefore, don't seed but split plants to ensure they remain healthy.

I hate it when things like that happen...But they do. You spend months nurturing your plants, and then they don't produce anything, it's almost heart-breaking. We get that with the plums (one good year is usually followed by a bad one), but so far we've been lucky with the tomatoes, especially given the UK climate.
I hope you get a bumper crop of tomatoes next year...Then we can compare notes and exchange yummy recipes :)

A lot of our ripe tomatoes have gone down the cheese sandwich way...Lightly toasted in the oven, almost like little pizzas...Yummy! Next time we'll remember to add some oregano, too.
Thanks for the tip, Sara, and so sorry for the late reply :)

My brother loves mash - quite the opposite to me - he eats mountains of the stuff. Anyway, I'm cured now. I'll try to catch him up.

WoW! That is unbelievable! I wish I could grow them like that. I'd be making dozens of tomato sandwiches lightly grilled with cheese and oregano.

:D :D I thought you'd recognise George's feet...He's a very keen gardener, as you know.
Yep, tomatoes seem to like us...We've got loads and loads of them everywhere in the house, and there are still plenty in the garden. We can't keep up with them, so we've started delivering some to other people in our family and to our friends. Plus, I'm planning to make some green tomato chutney next week or the week after, as the weather's getting colder and I can't leave the tomatoes on the plant for much longer.
